It takes two to Tango: Zerek Tango Shad 40mm and 50mm Small - TopicsExpress

It takes two to Tango: Zerek Tango Shad 40mm and 50mm Small diving minnow lures are all the rage at the moment, and with good reason, they catch fish. Relatively new to the market, yet making an immediate impact in this field is the range of Zerek Tango Shad lures. Available in 2 lengths (40mm and 50mm), the Tango Shad fits the bill for a range of Australian light line fishing situations. 40mm Tango Shad The 40mm Tango Shad has a proven track record on species such as trout, redfin, bream, flathead, Australian bass and estuary perch. Its small stature is in no way an indication of what this little lure can achieve. Whether cast or trolled, the 40mm Tango Shad is more than capable of tangling with oversized fish. The super sharp and tough hardware ensure that when the pressure is on, everything holds up and results always end in your favour. Whether worked slowly and with plenty of pauses for southern black bream, or using a slow and steady wind for yellowfin bream, the 40mm Tango Shad delivers. In the streams and rivers casting upstream and across will bring plenty of trout undone, while the fine tuning of these lures allows the downstream and across technique of Hot Shotting to be used to get your lures into all the nooks and crannies where stream trout live. But cast and retrieve is not the only way to fish this little ripper. Keen trout trollers will find this lure a great tool to troll in the lakes, especially when the redfin have spawned and the trout are gorging on tiny redfin – matching the hatch is the key to success here. With a diving depth of around 1.5m on the troll, redfin and flood margin golden perch are on the cards too. Look to the grassy edges that have recently been flooded during the low light periods of dawn and dusk for the best success and don’t be afraid to fish light with 6lb braid and leaders of around the same breaking strain. 50mm Tango Shad The 50mm Tango Shad is an absolute cracker and offers a little larger profile with the added bonus of appealing to a broader range of fish. If you’re fishing an estuary, 50mm is about perfect for just about everything you’d want to catch. Bream, flathead, salmon, tailor, whiting, estuary perch, Australian bass, mangrove jack and more have already fallen in love with this little ripper. Trolled or cast it makes little difference as the 50mm Tango Shad takes on all comers. Trolling this lure is especially productive and if you’re chasing flathead (and why wouldn’t you when these things work so well on them?), look for water that is 1.5m or shallower. Fished around 15m behind the boat the Tango Shad is shuffling around on the bottom attracting all sorts of flat brown fish action. But the big plus is that the Tango Shad can clear itself of weed easily. This is a true test of a flathead trolling lure and with a couple of quick rips of the rod tip, most, if not all the weed is shed from the lure, allowing you to keep fishing. In the fresh, the 50mm Tango Shad is a major player when you’re chasing trout and redfin and weed edge Australian bass. The tight action, slow floating nature and ability to pause the lure in the fish’s face are all key attributes for these lures in the fresh. And lake fish are not the only finned adversaries to find the 50mm Tango Shad a tasty little treat. Cast them into the sticks in any river and see what happens. Redfin, trout, sooty grunter, bass, jungle perch, jacks and freshwater barra just love to take this lure on. It’s heart in the mouth stuff as you rip the lure down to its running depth and pause it before shaking and working the lure as much as you can within the snag. Don’t ever lose concentration as most of the aggressive snag dwellers will smash this lure on the pause and you’ll need to be on your game to stop them tearing you through the sticks. Some stats The Zerek Tango Shad comes in two sizes, with 6 colours available in the 40mm and 7 colours in the 50mm version. Tough, effective and attractive are all reasons enough to get your hands on these great little lures and throw them at your favourite fish. And look out for a range of new Tango Shads that will have both floating and suspending models and come in a swag of new colours. These colours have been hand painted and picked by the Wilson Fishing team and they look as exciting as any lure on the market. The only trouble now will be choosing which lure to tie on – the 40mm or the 50mm, and that’s before you even consider the conundrum of colour.
