It took a little village, but at the start of this year Rosie was rescued from a home that abandoned her medically and emotionally in an owners back yard, after their first BRT drown in their pool. Along came a good soul, Elizabeth Friedman, a realtor who noticed this gorgeous dog in the yard of a home she was showing. The BRT was in bad shape. She asked the owner if they wanted the dog, and they said No! Elizabeth scooped her up and helped her through getting her healthy. She loved her, but living in a condo, she knew she couldnt keep her. Her veterinarian is my vet also, and he happened to tell me about her, Rosie. I contacted her because I wanted to meet her, knowing I couldnt get another dog right yet. I let some friends know of her and a wonderful friend, who has experience with German German Shepherds, Schutzhund and does doggy day care and even a couple of sheep said she wanted her badly. Shes a very good, experienced dog person and I trust her explicitly to my dogs when I need to leave them somewhere. Elizabeth, her mother, Trish (new owner) and myself all agreed that Rosie would be an amazing therapy dog. Even being abandoned like she was, she had a very sweet spirit and loves everyone she meets. Trish Cohen has taken a much needed 15 pounds off of her and she and her husband give her all the love any dog could need and more. A wonderful, wonderful life and home! Rosie is 6 years old. Since I wanted another good hospital therapy dog, I told them that I would work with her and test her. Today was her test and she passed the Pet Partners test with a complex rating. I then drove to meet Elizabeth (her hero rescuer) so she could give Rosie her first congratulatory hug and kiss! Thats her in the first photo and myself with Rosie after her passing her evaluation today. Happy, happy ending to what could have been a bad ending. Were all so proud of Rosie!!! And I cant wait to see all the smiles she will give people.
