It took me a lot of time to finally get over the fact that we lost Kroos, finally I had embraced the fact that maybe we want to build our team around Thiago and since Basti is a club icon, Kroos had to depart. Xabis signing and the news that he would be paid around the same amount has just refreshed those memories, Kroos initially wanted 8 million, Xabi as reported by Bild would be paid 7.5 million, neither of the above are exactly Ball winning midfielders in the mould of Javi Martinez( so Im not going to buy this he replaced Javi theory, in that case Khedira or Gustavo should have been bought, in any case Pep never preferred Javi in centre, he played him at the back and Benatia is his replacement) Xabis presence brings us back to the original position, 3 central midfielders vying for 2 spots, Xabi is defensively better than Kroos but he has similar qualities to Bastian Schweinsteiger, the man who couldnt be sold, Xabis addition puts him into his direct competition, in the second scenario he will replace Thiago Alcantara the man who was in my opinion the biggest reason for the sale of Kroos. The 3rd reason was that Kroos wanted more money, now Xabi is being paid on the same lines, what makes it sound more ridiculous is that Kroos just Won the WC and Xabi just announced his retirement, theres one player who just touched his peak and the other who is now in the twilight of a great career, which sane man would let go off a Young Academy product at the peak of his career for an old legend just for 0.5 million Euros? Xabi is the 5th Spanish to have signed for Bayern, before he arrived we had 1 Spaniard, You dont have to be an Einstein to know who is the man behind this amalgamation of Spano-German culture.
