It was 35 years ago today that we lost Little Feat founding member Lowell George. Lowells first band was called The Factory. This was the band that appeared on the TV show F Troop as The Bed Bugs. After The Factory, Lowell was a member of The Standells for a short time and then joined Frank Zappas The Mothers of Invention. After a few disagreements with Zappa, Lowell formed Little Feat. On June 15, 1979, he began a tour in support of his solo album. On June 29, 1979, the morning after an appearance at Washington, D.C.s Lisner Auditoriumwhere the bulk of Waiting for Columbus had been recorded, George collapsed and died in his Arlington, Virginia, hotel room at the Twin Bridges Marriott. A postmortem report later stated that heart failure was the cause of death. Georges body was cremated in Washington, D.C., on August 2. His ashes were flown back to Los Angeles, where they were scattered from his fishing boat into the Pacific Ocean. Here is the clip from F Troop RIP Lowell. youtube/watch?v=L2jgIQBzQZk
