It was HOT at the Expo- probably about 108. There did not seem to be the vendors and clinicians that I remember in previous years, so I was a bit disappointed. The Magnificent 7 was fun to watch though! Amazingly well trained and beautiful horses. The hot weather continued up in Laytonville, another small town rodeo with some fun events like goat tying and even hide races, which I had never seen before. That was so fun! The sad part was it was blasting hot there, which seemed to lead to short fuses on behalf on some cowgirls who took it out on their horses. I cringe when I see this lack of horsemanship, especially in view of the public. Yanking all over your horses mouth is not going to make you catch your steer next time, or make him do a nice slide stop. I thank the good Lord above for the great teachers I have had who would have shoved a boot up my behind if I had ever tried to blame my horse for my own failings.
