It was October 4th, 1970, when the Full Tilt Boogie Bands road manager John Cooke entered room 105 of the Landmark Motor Hotel in Hollywood to find Janis Joplin dead of a heroin overdose. Seemingly larger than life, Janis Joplin lived the rock n roll lifestyle to its fullest. Her biggest selling album, Pearl, would be released after her death. This Saturday night, October 4th, 2014, the Psychedelic Radio Head~Shoppe pays tribute to Janis Joplin. Well feature excerpts of letters Janis wrote to her family during her brief career, and a special poem for Janis Joplin, written and read by local Albuquerque poet, Tracey Pontani. Tune in this Saturday night at 89.9 FM KUNM and you can catch the stream at kunm.org
