It was a disaster waiting to happen. I took Mona Lisa to a park - TopicsExpress

It was a disaster waiting to happen. I took Mona Lisa to a park to walk where the squirrels propragate as rapidly as bunnies. She needed some serious squirrel chasing practice on a leash, of course. Well, picture this: Mona Lisa is creeping oh so slowly, tiny bit by tiny bit toward the squirrel who is sitting on his hind legs, tail switching while facing the sidewalk. A nonchalalant male jogger is approaching on the opposite side of the sidewalk. I look at Mona Lisa ever so slowly and stealthally closing in on the squirrel. I look at the squirrel still appearing to taunt Mona Lisa to come closer--baby!!! The jogger is approaching his impending fall. Before I could warn him the squirrel takes off like a lightning bolt right smack dab in front of him. He hits the squirrel with his foot, Mona Lisa in hot pursuit with me on the end of the leash trying to stop her. The jogger trips but catches himself. Looks down stunned to see the squirrel, the Basset Hound and me all crossing his path. I profoundly and profushely apologize. He continues on his way saying, Its okay. I noticed the earplugs in his ears. He had been lost in some ITune download and wouldnt have heard me screaming. My heart is still calming down as flashes of a crashed jogger, head hitting the cement and me having to pay a huge hospital bill because of the dynamics of a squirrel and a Basset Hound.
