It was a fantastic experience for me at the print competition this year. I had a chance to sit in and hear feedback from many different judges on almost all of my prints, and most of all; many shared invaluable advice, feedback and commentary that will be very helpful for me next year. Id really like to give a word of thanks publicly to all the chairs for keeps things lively, even when its 21 hours into judging and STILL going the extra mile to ensure every entrant gets something (feedback, comment or advice on what they could do to improve). The judges were super awesome for sharing their own print and image making secrets to the audience and for providing invaluable, objective feedback. Being able to be part of this is precisely why I spent over $3000 to be there. The education is invaluable. There were moments that I found we had to rush through prints, and it was too bad that some did not get the same attention that others did. Or some prints would come up, stay frozen, while the system fell on its face, and the print loses its initial impact -- I saw this a few times, and felt terrible. Many of this was due to system hiccups and wifi issues. I truly hope that this can be curbed for next year as the competition is heating up and I believe there will be a higher demand for next year. Also, it would be great to be able to see the scoring process show up on the screen -- in some rooms I was able to see the scores at the bottom, they would flicker on and off, inconsistently. It would be nice to see a consistent approach to this. Even better, show us who scored what :) (The judges usually announced what they gave the print anyways and if time is of the essence we can just skip past the announcement if its already on screen) Prints for the most part showed up based on your print entry code i.e. ENG2058 then ENG2059 etc etc. Please dont change this ... It was really helpful for me to judge when my prints were up :-) PJ had the biggest room, while the most popular Bride and Groom on Wedding Day had a small one... maybe it would be nice to have a bigger room for the popular category, so we dont over crowd. I am super thrilled to see so many more attendees watching this year over last. Which was really great. All in all, this was an amazing experience for me, and I am sure for thousands of others. Please keep doing all the crazy amazing things you guys are doing. To Jerry, Melissa and the 83 amazing people involved in this print competition, thank you so much for the opportunity, and all the learning you are providing us. God bless.
