It was a gathering of old school friends, a really interesting one as they saw themselves again after a very long time. Of course, there was sufficient refreshment for everybody, and as they wined and dined they talked about what they all have been up to, in course of sharing their experiences, it was obvious that a couple of them had done far better than others- you know what I mean, some had become rich and famous while others were yet to be. As that happened, I noticed that the ones that were doing well, celebrated themselves- hailing themselves, hugging and clinking their glasses, while the others that hadnt done great yet gradually became quite. And even while this successful ones tried to strike conversations with them, their reply was cold, as their countenance had obviously dampened. So I asked one of them, bro why are you suddenly quiet? and he gave me the most ridiculous reply, he said which kind nonsense question be that, nor be the same school all of us go, abi dem tell you say me and poverty sign contract?... Infact I have to leave now.... Then it dawned on me that comparison is a mind thing- and indeed its natural. It takes a heart to celebrate with your successful counterparts and not feel intimidated by their success. But a sure pill to it is having enough so you dont have to worry about anybody having a lot. The point is: We must strive for the top. Rather than beef success we must beef up our efforts to achieve our expectations. Notice the sky is never too full for two stars to shine.
