It was a good gathering yesterday: at the 8th IIT BHU Alumni Awards of Excellence. PHD Chamber of Commerce was filled to the brim; met many of my seniors, class fellows and juniors. It was a humbling experience for me to see the awardees who made a position for themselves in their chosen professions and in society. We had Virendra P Kaushik, Virindra Raina, Manick Sorcar who received award for Lifetime Achievement; Mohanji Saxena, Marian Noronha and Sukumar Bandopadhyay, who received Distinguished Alumnus awards, Manu Tandon and Thekken Gunaseelan who were Young Achievers, and Yogesh Upadhyaya and Vinod Bansal who received the Jurys Special award. The Kathak recital by Ms. Olga Chepelianskaia was appreciated by the audience. I thank all the attendees and all organisers for making the event successful. Many of our guests were not from BHU, but were present and contributed to the success of the event. Manoj Sinha and Arvind Gupta also joined, despite their busy schedules, and thanks for Manoj Sinha joining the event, the 1979 batch came in large numbers: an unusual phenomenon at the best of times. :D The only thing missing, in my opinion, was Pahalwans Lassi and Launglata.
