It was a hard training session mentally today because of the pain, - TopicsExpress

It was a hard training session mentally today because of the pain, and have been worrying about my progress.. Deep down I keep telling myself to simply trust the process and keep it going. Today was legs day. My favourite! But the hardest. I was suffering in some above average pain and had been icing religiously throughout the day. Deep down I knew if I were to make a difference and gain, I had to bite the bullet. Before I knew it I was on my last exercise. Giving up is not an option! However, I am able to recognise when my body needs to rest, and when it is okay to push on. After every weights session I put on a brace and strap some ice to my back. Chuck a jumper on so nobody questions, and Ill then sit on the bike for a warm down. This is just my management routine that helps to moderate my back pain and recover. Just as I was about to hit my warm down I got chatting to a trainer.. He was shocked at my icing routine. He mentioned that despite the injury, I train harder than most guys at the gym. Why would you do that? Because if I dont, I dont see myself get better. I want to be stronger and better than yesterday! This was a big compliment in my eyes, that and the fact he thought I was either UFC or an ex rowing champion (haha) In my eyes I dont feel I train hard enough, and I know I cant train harder without risking injury (or further damaging?).. So, it brightened my day. Here is how far I have come since the first week of weights. I am now in week 10. (4 sets of 15 reps) Leg press - 80kg to 150kg Quad extensions - 32kg to 45 kg Hamstring curls - 25kg to 38.5kg Standing calf raises - body weight to 60kg Deadlifts - (not allowed) to 35kg both conventional and straight leg.. Press on everyone!!
