It was a historic night in Barrie this past Saturday night as a NEW Powerslam World Champion was crowned! After hosting Bryan Weiss and a great team of photographers from Daytrippertv earlier in the afternoon, the evening festivities got underway at 7:00 and started off with Promoter Chris Drury, Commissioner Kati Rosenthorn and Championship Commissioner Colin Douglas entering the ring to address the crowd regarding Ricky Marvin being unable to enter Canada to defend the Title, which he surrendered of his own accord due to the circumstances. This immediately brought out former Powerslam Champion Hornet, who demanded that the title be handed over to him since he was scheduled to challenge Marvin for the title. After a brief discussion between the 3 PWE Officials, it was determined that there would be a one night tournament, with the winner being declared Champion! This brought a great deal of anger from Hornet, and a huge reaction from the crowd. First match seen Hornet facing 3rd Generation Hart family member Mike Hart in his PWE debut. The anti-Hornet crowd was wholly behind Hart, but in the end Hornet walked out the victor to move into the second round of the tournament. Next match paired off 2 of the hottest young prospects in the business today as the fan favorite Johnny Wave faced off against the rough and tough Big John Greed, who was accompanied to the ring by his manager Jaze Hart. Hart revealed that before the evening was over, he would unveil the `man behind the mask`who ran in and knocked out Rage last month in Barrie. In an awesome match that would rate 5 stars in anyone`s book.....Wave was able to defeat John Greed to continue on in the tournament. Next up, veteran Ruffy Silverstein faced off against newcomer Chris Garvin. Garvin looked solid and in a good back and forth match, Silverstein was able to put Chris Garvin away and spoil his PWE debut. Advancing to Round 2 - Ruffy Sliverstein. Next up, the fast rising Carter Mason faced another PWE newcomer in Joey Valentine. Valentyne got a great response as Mason has really established himself as one of the most hated wrestlers in the organization, but in the end Mason was able to put an impressive Valentyne away and advance to the 2nd Round. The ever popular Rip Impact then entered the ring to await his opponent, when out came `Former Child Star`Rhys Greenaway. Despite being outweighed, Impact was able to put Greenaway away to advance in the Tournament! HOWEVER, Jaze Hart and John Greed then stormed the ring, with Greed and Greenaway attacking Impact while Hart stood in a corner with a maniacal grin on his face. After being carried to the back by Colin Douglas, it was decided that to avoid further injury, that Rip Impact be suspended from the tournament. Greed delivered a nasty Samoan Drop and deliberately turned Rip onto his shoulder on the way down, so we can only hope for a speedy recovery for Rip Impact! Round 2 of the Tournament started off fast and furious as Ruffy Silverstein faced off against Carter Mason. This was a punishing match, but in the end it was Ruffy Silverstein who got the nod and advanced to the Powerslam Title Finals. After defeating Johnny Wave in Barrie only a month ago, Hornet entered this semi-final Contest against Wave with all the confidence of repeating the previous result. In a surprise upset that tore the roof off the house, Wave was able to pull off the win and advance to the Final Round to face Ruffy Silverstein for the Powerslam Championship. Following this, the Powerslam Executive, along with FLCC Representative Shawn Gibson, presented Chief Referee Òld School`Eddiington James with an Award of Appreciation for his lifetime of service to the Teaching Profession, as well as his contribution to the Ontario Independent wrestling scene! In a match that could have went either way, Ruffy Silverstein and Johnny Wave came to the ring to fight! Lots of close counts, near falls, and a supreme effort for both guys ended with Johnny Wave rolling up Ruffy Silverstein and becoming NEW Powerslam World Champion!!!
