It was a joy for the Apostle Paul to suffer for the gospel, because when He did he was actually suffering for the elect. Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.Therefore I endure all things for the elects sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. ( 2 Timothy 2: 9 - 10 ). Paul was in chains; but the Word of God was not bound. He still witnessed. He did not suffer vicariously for believers as Christ did. He would endure anything to see them saved. Paul was not immediately executed after his trial ( 2 Timothy 4: 18 ); and thus He could finish 2 Timothy for us. We are much richer in the faith today because of Him. To God be all the glory.
