It was a little over 20 years ago when I decided for better or worse to scrape out a living as a musician in downtown Springfield. Uncle Lou Whitney was there for every chapter, guiding me as I went. It is going to take a long time to adjust to the fact that I wont be able to pop into 328 South Avenue to ask for some sage advice or to put a new project on the calender. To Springfield music, in my eyes, Lou was our Statue of Liberty, our Mississippi River, our Rocky Mountains. Its very hard to imagine a world without him. Im thinking especially today of Joe Terry and Bobby Lloyd Hicks, who made it possible for me to be in a band and share stages with Lou these last couple of years - thanks guys. Cindy and I sending all our love to Kay today and everyday - we love you! Rest well, Uncle Lou.
