It was a playoff type atmosphere, as a large crowd packed Champlin Parks gym for a top-10 matchup. Maple Grove, 13-2 coming in and ranked No. 6 in Class AAAA, executed the game plan well in the first half. The Crimson kept the pace relatively slow and defended well, enabling them to build a 10-point lead at one point in the opening half. Champlin Park closed the half strong though, and J.T. Gibsons three pointer with about a half-minute left tied the game at 31-31 at halftime. The second half was a back-and-forth battle for a long time, but Champlin Park started to attack the basket much better to grab the lead for good. When Crimson standout guard Brad Davison fouled out, the Rebels pulled away to win 73-58 in a game that was much closer than that until late in the contest. Gibson had 20 points to lead Champlin Park, with McKinley Wright adding 17 and Jeremy Johnson 16. Tywhon Pickford had 19 for Maple Grove, with Davison adding 16. bit.ly/1Je8UQ8
