It was a special day for one of NWSs own at the 95th American Meteorological Society (AMS) Annual Meeting in Phoenix, as Dr. Harry R. (Bob) Glahn was honored with special symposium for his achievements in the development and application of statistical methods in meteorology. His career spanned more than 50 years — from involvement in the U.S. Weather Bureaus efforts to develop objective forecasts from the early numerical models in the late 1950s, to the development of a nationwide high-resolution, gridded statistical post processing system for todays ensemble models. NWS Director Dr. Louis Uccellini gave the keynote presentation at the symposium, discussing the historic impact of Dr. Glahns career in NWS. bit.ly/1KjkBGy
