It was an interesting and rowdy Hull City Council meeting today. The PCC, Matthew Grove, was in attendance and provided strong answers to questions about crime and policing in the region. In Council, despite the bickering, one thing was clear - all parties are in agreement that Hull would be better off in a combined authority, and it is a real shame that other players outside the city cant see the benefits this would bring to the entire region. Following Council, I went out to meet some residents of Beverley ward and spread the word about the positive work the Government is doing to benefit the people of Hull. Finally, I attended the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra performance at the City Hall. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and was pleased to hear Tchaikovskys fifth performed to such a phenomenal standard. This is exactly the kind of cultural event that allowed Hull to win City of Culture and I hope we see many more similar events in the lead up to 2017 and beyond.
