It was by inspiration of the Spirit that Solomon wrote, A man that hath friends must show himself friendly (Prov. 18:24). That is to say, he must be easily approachable, openly accessible, and of such an amiable disposition that his spirit is conducive to a life of fellowship. If this is true of men, then how much truer must it be of Him who inspired the verse in the first place? Ive always seen the Lord as being incredibly sociable---and all the more so with those who seek intimacy with Him. But if we see Him as being a wholly malevolent Being, threatening to destroy all who dare to come near Him (even though Hes not that way at all!), then its unlikely that well ever picture ourselves as being in His circle of friends.
