It was good to see the clear blue skies and the river reflecting - TopicsExpress

It was good to see the clear blue skies and the river reflecting their hue. Its been a cold steel-grey for a week or two. Perhaps Autumn has woven a spell to warm things up just a bit. It certainly would be nice, Id hoped this cold wouldnt put us into the deep freeze just yet. I need some time to adjust, old bones take on the cold too fast. Autumns beauty this year ignited in splendor but it didnt last. I watched as the beams of Grandfathers light, kissed the trees of the forest to make them glow. They fell to shine upon green-pine boughs of snow. Thats when I saw a flash from the side of my eye. And again it came, quickly passing by. A flash here and a flash there...who was moving so quickly about? Stop a moment, please. I called out. And so she allowed herself to show, that beautiful daughter of Jack Frost. Good morning, little one, are you lost? She shook her head. Oh no, not I, Uncle Autumn told me I could paint his woods. So Ive been searching out the leaves that cling and berries on their shrubs. Now and then the bark of trees is fun to paint as well. It gives the forest a sense of an enchanted spell. Ive got to go now. And off she danced, I knew that she was right. Shed given the forest a crystalline reflection, her touch was just right. I hadnt gone much further when to my surprise, I ran into an old woman, seated on a fallen tree, immediately she placed her left hand over her left eye. Her expression was rather somber as she looked me up and down. I see you Child, as you are. Please, once turn around. I did as she asked of me and when I faced her again, shed put her right hand over her right eye, looking at me with her left. Please, Child, turn once again. And so I complied. A full circle I turned, then she looked deep within me, down to my soul she adjourned. With nothing to hide I allowed her to examine freely. I closed my eyes to see her smiling face, one that smoothed out the ruts of her lines. My heart felt her tender grace...though I knew she could be quite stern sometimes. Then she pulled back and set me free. In your heart is a vast stand of the forest trees, within them a circle of the Wise Ones all aglow, if you please. Clear it is your love of the Wizards and Wise Women of Old, And of course the Woods, so tender is that love, it is very good. You have a special gift Old One, please tell me your name, why have you come? Dropping her hand she waved a finger in the air, circling it round and round. At me, with both eyes, she stared, then summoned a tinkling sound. She smiled a warm smile and replied: Bell. Then, after quite a long pause, Tis time for the Womens Mysteries...she gathers sisters and cousins, you see? The season of the Crone is coming quite fast and Winter has extended his claws. We must prepare the lessons that before you and your friends are cast. Mystical things that through the ages always stand fast. So we are to meet within the Crystal Cave down in the caverns far below ground. There we will whisper of which secrets to share, and of mysteries quite profound. And since youve asked so respectfully, you may know my name. Some call me simply Old Crone, but you may call me Shade. Then she stood to her feet, and pulled forth a staff shed leaned against a tree. Offering me her arm she again spoke: Come, I know the way by rote. Fork to the left, fork to the right, fork that curves, entrance in sight. Her little ditty made me smile, she had within her the heart of a child. So off we went and I found her words fit the way well. What a charming old gal. She seemed to know just where to go, at the entrance she took the path leading down below. And into the great Amber Cavern we went, the passage already with mage-lights lit. There we found Bell and the others, only the women were gathered here. I wondered where the Brothers might be, but no one seemed to care. Then the soft voice of Echo whispered in my ear. We Sisters will be leading today, my dear. I looked at her tender smiling face, she seemed so meek and mild. But I knew beneath that image was a very wise woman, her spirit quite wild. I nodded then and gave her a smile. I noted, unlike the formality of the Wizards when they meet, in full circle taking their seats; the Wise Women were comfortably placed, scattered wherever they would. Some in clusters were bent and seated, others simply stood. Then Bells voice rang out with such delight, Shade! Youre here! Ladies, the BorderKeeper of Day and Night arrives! She took a rather long drag of her cigarette and exhaled slowly making rings. Ahhhhhhh, said Bell, old memories sometimes cling. Then she gave Shade and I each a quick wink. So much was being discussed it was hard to follow all they had to say. All I can tell you is that they will share some important lessons of the Womens Ways. Oh and you best be prepared to be scanned. Ive noticed that Shade has a slight trembling in her hands. Im familiar with that sign, it tells me she holds the summoned energy, that which allows her the power to look deep within you to See. Summoned from within her spirit its running up and down her arms. Im familiar with that too, she knows well this charm. Her scan is like the feathers touch, it does not disturb nor muss. A gentle look is all shell take, she gets to quickly know you each this way. See you when you get here!
