It was great to join my friend and colleague Pa State Representative Mike Carroll, along with PennDOT Secretary Barry Schoch and Pa Turnpike Commission CEO Mark Compton this week to announce the first step in studying and implementing the Scranton Beltway initiative. I commend the coordination of PennDOT and the Pa Turnpike Commission on this important project which has great potential to reduce traffic, and notably truck traffic, in the Rte 81 corridor while enhancing the movement of goods and services along the Pa Turnpike. The $500,000 first phase study process will take a full year, but Rep. Carroll and I and all members of the NE Legislative Delegation will remain vigilant in trying to advance the project to implementation in the next 5-7 years. thetimes-tribune/opinion/scranton-beltway-has-potential-1.1703221
