It was hard to learn the muscle attachments of scapula but when we - TopicsExpress

It was hard to learn the muscle attachments of scapula but when we studied the hip bone, it started looking all too easy. Physiology was always a piece of cake. Test se pehle parho, na parho..basic concepts and good flow of pen. Biochemistry na teachers seriously le sake na hum. The biochem practicals in the hot and humid labs, having to write long practicals following the monotone of one half-interested teacher or another, we reached somehow to the day we were trying to identify different compounds by chemical tests for prof Practical. I dont know which compound i identified as gelatin. 2nd Year Anatomy was the real deal. I remember being totally blank a day before final exam, about how to even start revising, there were 5 books in front of me, Langman Embryology, Laik histology, Abdomen and Pelvis, Brain by Snell, Head and neck..and i dont know what got over me that it took just an hour to go through each book. What relief at the end of Anatomy exam ! what stupendous relief at the end of Histology! Could never differentiate one epithelium from another and secretly wondererd, loagon ko itni bari bari cheezain kese nazar aajati hain. Histology was another ignored child of me. (and continues to be my weakness in Pathology) . Physiology again, knew it like i knew my name. Biochemistry was a little tricky with all those metabolisms to cram. But all was well in the end, got the highest marks of all subjects in least favorite Biochem too. Third year was the start of a new era. Clinical medicine, wards ka charm, patients ko aise dekhna jaise sheeshay k bane hon aur haat lagane se kharab honge. hesitation, fear (which still remains to some extent) but the charm did ebb off with the June-July weather. Pharmacoloy in its first readings was as volatile as nail polish remover. Lol. But i remember knowing the same subject on finger tips before final exam night, as if by magic. Pathology . Patho was a scare. It shook up all of us. Not ever nearly, but actually all of us. Paper dekh k thora time tou nervous breakdown se larnay me laga. Forensic aur Forensic department ka hamesha se apna unique style. Parho kuch, questions will be asked out of the examiners own accord. On that account, i did enjoy attempting the paper. Behavioral sciences was a breath of fresh air in all this hoodlum. Indeed. But consultation and counselling although looks easy on paper, it was hard to translate it into actions in the ward of Jinnah hospital......Into fourth year we continue.....Prof awaits.... More books, More commitment, More dedication....People are going in different directions. We are growing up. And we are not giving up.
