It was hot alright the city was on fire Mosquitos buzzn like Sonny Rollins the sweat on peoples faces would catch the neon lights making them look like creatures from another planet I had few dollars in my back pocket a lighter and some change I stepped into a bar with the hope of relief - thank the holy Jesus it was cool enough to make your skin tingle I ordered a Mexican beer with a wedge of lemon and watched the girls walk by in their hot summer clothes their skin all shiny like golden honey I got to thinking back when I was young how a year would seem like a life time now its just a blink of an eye..
