It was like it happened yesterday, our family was holding - TopicsExpress

It was like it happened yesterday, our family was holding together, school was ready to start, mom was rummaging through the clothes of what was I able to bring, my weight at that time was @ 96 pounds of pure skin and bones at the age of 14, we did not have much clothing at the Residential school, she did her best in hand sewing this and that, while I was holding back my tears, mom was able to read some of the stuff that was sent to us, it was a letter of instructions of my going to school at the Fraser Valley, I was sort of excited but mom thought it best for me to go. I listened to mom for I never went to a white school, my trip, was long, the roads were gravel, maybe 10 hard hours of traveling to Nanaimo than to the Ferry, by myself, coming to Vancouver, my first view was the lights, “these white people, wow” my bus pulled in at the depot, it said that someone would meet me, no one met me, hungry, lost than ended up crying on the bench, with no money, well you get the picture, now, preparing for my journey for Edmonton for the TRC, I have no idea on where I will be staying for the event, I am now asking for help, I was a volunteer when it was here, now I want to be a participant, with a voice, I wish to express the wrongs that happened, for the remainder of my life, I will try to live at peace with myself as well as to my children and grandchildren and to my family, Hugs to all
