It was mega busy down the allotment today, everyone getting as much as they can done before were hit by the storm. There was some discussion of my newly painted shed described as a beach hut, an ice cream stall, and something that comes out of a tube of toothpaste. We dug up the last of the Maris Pipers, Dan showed little promise as a professional Purdy Gatherer (Irish for potato harvester), but we got there in the end. Courgette recipes were shared as everyone has so many and Dans recommendation of courgette, rice and filo pie was a requested recipe. He said, Its in Hugh Fearnley-Whittinstalls book. Sue, our next door neighbour said, Oh him. My friend calls him Hugh Fearsomely-Eats-Everything. Sue promised to post a recipe of her tried and trusted courgette cake recipe under the beach hut door. I hope to god it turns out better than the disastrous beetroot and chocolate cake. And I checked out Dear Seans Plums - nice and plump, ripe for the picking and going into a mixed fruit crumble this evening. :-) But the best part of the day was when I wheeled my wheel barrow through streets broad and narrow crying, Eat your heart out, to Ross who got his allotment the same time as us and as yet has not harvested a single veg. He is on his second batch of hens, the first lot taken by the fox.
