It was more than a Brazilian disaster… The high proportion demolition of Brazil (7-1!) by the Germans also serves as the ultimate lesson for those who still believe that the mentality of ‘result only’ can be successful in international football. It is the IDENTITY (playing to players’ strengths) and QUALITY (imposing technical superiority) that made Germany so irresistible against completely confused and incapacitated Brazil.Germany’s performance is testimony of correct philosophy and principles of DEVELOPING PLAYERS and OWN STYLE OF PLAY, the ‘German way’. In 2010, Spain won the World Cup with 8 players from Barcelona and a style based on sustained possession. For 2014 Germany followed Spain’s example by building the team around 8 players from Bayern Munich and displaying more attacking possession football – a style upgraded by Guardiola which, as Ernst Middendorp confirmed, it is now benefiting the German national team. By contrast, Brazil shows a lot of disorders in their game approach – no revived identity – as the players are contrasting each other under the influence of so many foreign clubs’ mentalities. The flaws in the Brazilian youth development – again as a result of many years of IRRELEVANT influences –have been exposed by the shocking high number of their players’ technical errors (poor ball control at speed, turnovers, dismal scoring technique, etc.) It is obvious that Brazilian football needs a renaissance programme with drastic changes. The lesson must not be ignored by SAFA. #Ted_Dumitru
