It was narrated that Salmaan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “O Salmaan, do not hate me and give up your religion.” I said: O Messenger of Allah, how can I hate you when Allah has guided us through you? He said: “By hating the Arabs you would hate me.” (Tirmidhi) The Prophet, peace be upon him, was an Arab. This hadith states that bigoted/racist treatment of Arabs results in leaving Islam. The reason is because doing so implies hateful regard for the Prophet, peace be upon him. If this applies to Muslims who would ultimately leave Islam,if they interacted with the Prophet, peace be upon him, this way, then what about hateful non-Muslims who upon acting this way would consequently never be afforded entrance in into Islam? This is why I say, its not about cartoons, its about peoples eternal lives. This matter is grave. Grave matters require careful and considerate deliberation followed by similar action. May we keep the ultimate results of such actions in front of us so that the trivial life of this world doesnt ruin us, inshallah.
