It was nice to be at the Moncton Market today for Talk with a Councillor. I had the opportunity to speak with so many people (thank you everyone who dropped by). Since I often hear from people who would like a larger seating area at the market, you will be happy to know that there should be 5 more picnic tables next week, which is a step in the right direction. I had a lot of interesting discussions (many with people from Alberta (and a couple from Ontario) who would LOVE to live in Moncton!). One person thought that a great economic development move would be for Moncton to have a booth at the Calgary Stampede with photos and prices of Moncton homes. I dont know if it was the sun, but everyone was very positive today with lots and lots of support for the DT Centre. Chatted with some of the organizers of the Transplant Games and they are loving Moncton and their welcome to our city (they are finding the residence rooms at U de M pretty hot though!). I had an excellent suggestion from a citizen to put the tidal bore times on our website, some basic by-law issues, concern about ATVs/4-wheelers driving on the NW Trail (have you seen this?), rooming house regulations, bike stands at the library and a correction to our tourism brochure. I dont know how many people talked about how much they love living in Moncton and wouldnt want to be anywhere else. I think that the last month has made everyone think...a lot. Time to prepare for Councils private session on Monday. Enjoy the sunshine!
