It was not in d original plan of God that anybody should be poor. The moment we allow sin, we have allowed poverty. The causes of poverty all over d world today is traceable to greed & self centeredness, which culminated to d exploitative tendency of some people at corridor of power. This was what happened in d times Amos d Prophet in d land of Israeli. Can we just imagine d level of greed that will make some people to loot d resources of a nation impoverishing d rest? These people will now come up with philanthropic program 4 people to applaud them. Would there be any need 4 this kind of charity if they have not defrauded d people? The church is not left out as well. Do we know d degree of exploitation going on in d name of giving to God? Some will tell u to empty your pocket & your bank a/c to give to God. If God tells us to do that is a different ball game. They are living in affluence while members are living in abject poverty. We will surely give a/c of our stewardship to Him one day.
