It was quite the busy weekend for Avast! Communications at the Allied Building Products Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Yesterday we started out with a Practice session where Peter Portante posted his quick time of 1:27.336 (P8), Danilo Estrela was at 1:28.264 (P17) and Ryan Verra 1:34.21 (P1 – National Class). From there we moved onto Qualifying where Peter Portante qualified P13 (1:27.500), Danilo Estrela P12 (1:27.447) and Ryan Verra P1 in the National Class (1:34.175). Then we had our first race which was full of disappointment for Danilo Estrela and Peter Portante when they were both taken out by a competitor shortly after the green flag. However Ryan Verra would have excellent luck when he battled it out with National Class competitors to ultimately take his first win in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship National Class. Today we finished out our time at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with Race 2. Although we didn’t think we were going to have a Race 2 with the dense fog cover that clouded the track. Just when we were about to give up USF2000 Officials gave the word for drivers to start their engines! The race went pretty smoothly with no incidents as everyone was being cautious in the after effects of the fog. Peter Portante would finish P12 (started P13), Danilo Estrela lost his brakes mid-way through the race but was able to finish P15 (started P17) and Ryan Verra took his second win of the weekend in the National Class. We would like to congratulation Ryan Verra on an amazing weekend and look forward to seeing what all Avast! Clients have in store for the final races in Houston, Texas, October 5-6.
