It was rainy 15 years ago today. Some details never fade. We entered the Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania (HUP), knowing the birth of our 4th child could have a bleak outcome. About 10 weeks prior to his birth we had been prepared that our son would likely not survive and that if he did, he would spend weeks to months in the hospital with multiple surgeries. We were STRONGLY advised to abort. Even the very day before his birth, after another amniocentesis, we were reminded that hed have surgery immediately, and what would be in store for us for weeks, months and years to follow. The morning of August 20, our son, entered into the world weighing 9lbs, 15 oz. He was whisked away from us to Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). My husband went to be by his side, while I recovered in the adjacent hospital. When my husband came back to check on me, he told me that our son, did NOT have surgery. He was perfectly healthy. He was a miracle! Let me tell you, there were some pretty speechless people in our midst! I get so emotional reliving all those appointments, meetings, ultrasounds, non-stress tests and yes, even physical therapy. We had 3 other children under the age of 5! I cant even begin to tell you how thankful I am that the thought of aborting our baby wasnt even an option for us to consider. It breaks my heart to think of how many people may have followed the advice of the medical world and missed out on a blessing! Miracles DO happen! Those of you who know Ridge, know he is by no means shy or withdrawn, he is full of life and knows HIS story! I am SO thankful we choose LIFE! God is good all the time & all the time, God is good!
