It was recently brought to my attention that some of my friends feel like my new band The Scarlet Letters are viewed as just a novelty act... or worse yet a circus act. It was stated that its just not the right thing for Kansas City. I have to strongly disagree. I believe in my band and more importantly I believe in the people in it. Theyre not just hired guns, but theyre also my friends, and theyre my band. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and Im okay if youre not into what Im doing. But as far as the girls doing the music justice, I think theyre doing a fantastic job. Were really going to be putting this to the test June 20th when we play with the Neon Trees in the P&L district, and Kelsey, Roxi, and Jennifer all know that a giant step up is going to be expected of them. The energy will be nothing short of everything that weve got to give, because that is what I will expect of them, and more importantly of myself. I hope that you enjoy the hard work that we put into these shows, and will continue to do so until the band has run its course. After years and years of playing with some of the best men that Kansas City and the world has to offer musicianship wise, I felt it was time to change the game and work with the best women that I could find. I LOVE working with these people. Theyre attitude is great. There is NO drama, and we all get along splendidly. And personally, I feel like they play the songs just fine. Could they be better? Of course! Could we rehearse more and get a little tighter? Yes. And thats something we plan to do soon. But lifes been a little bit crazy lately, and its tough to make everyones schedules work sometimes. But though last time we were missing our key second guitar player, we still managed to play hard and have a great time. To those who like what were doing, thank you for your support, and well see you on the 20th and on August 7th at PBR. To those who arent into it, well... maybe youll like the next thing that comes along.
