It was recently suggested that being an artist isnt the most stable career. That even if I am able to make a good living at it, theres the possibility of future failure or down times. That its not a steady income or career. Because the person who suggested this is someone whos opinion I value, Ive suddenly started doubting myself. In fact my opinion of myself became so low that I was convinced I will never amount to anything. I came very close to trashing my art supplies and destroying every piece of my art still in my possession. Im not looking for an ego boost, I know what I can do to a canvas or paper. I dont need confidence or anyone to blow smoke up my ass. What I want to know is can an artist make a good, stable living at art and only art? Enough to own a home and provide for a family? Enough to be financially stable? Should I go back to school and then get a real job? I was manifesting great success for myself. Not just a local artist making enough to get by. I was manifesting obscene amounts of money and international fame. That is what I envisioned for myself. Now I dont know. - Captain FoolishBoy
