It was so much fun discussing budgeting with these #JerseyCity middle school students today. They had alot to share about money and how to manage it in general. My most favorite part of facilitating a budgeting module with youth is witnessing, despite our long discussion about needs vs, wants prior to the budgeting activity, the concept quickly falls away and all of the sudden they are too good for public transportation and iphones are essential. THAT IS....until they finish their budget and realize they are in the red. They quickly give in and begin slashing car payments and replacing triple play with netflix and saying they will wait until they make more money. Love it. Hands on learning is the way to go.
