It was so nice to see and meet everyone and hear the stories of beto and his brother when they were growing up. One of his friends girl friends told me that beto and his brother were the most beautiful boys in Ipanema, always surrounded by the girls (beto said mostly is was his brother- haha) I laughed all night, beto too. The adventures we have as children stay with us for a life time. Some people beto saw last night, he hadnt seen in more than 30 years, but the memories and impact of this time is very powerful. Growing up in ipanema is the late 60s and 70s was a magical time. Beto is in a book and is mentioned as being the first to make a skateboard. He took a piece of wood, 4 metal wheels from skate shoes - the kind u needed a key for- and a hammer and nails. He and his cousin Rui Campos Do Nascimento would skate all day long. We didnt get home until 4AM- I dont need to tell u that beto is still sleeping, woke up for a few minutes and said ; Xulu, Im never drinking again. Haha!! Sure
