It was such a blessing today to hear Pastor Jerry Slate Jr., preach on the glorious doctrine of justification by faith alone (sola fida), the central affirmation of historic evangelicalism. The German reformer Martin Luther says this about justification by faith alone: "This doctrine is the head and the cornerstone. It alone begets, nourishes, builds, preserves, and defends the church of God; and without it the church of God cannot exist for one hour..."During the reformation Luther said this is "the article with and by which the church stands, without which it falls." The Lord Himself met with us in an wonderful way at Berean Baptist Church today through his Holy Spirit, through the worship of singing the Christ centered hymns of the righteousness of Christ, exhortations of the Word, prayers of the saints, and most important, through the preached Word of Christ! I thank the Lord so much for my friend and fellow Pastor, Jerry Slate Jr., who is so faithful to feeding the flock of God!! Thank you my brother for preaching this glorious truth of forensic justification by the righteousness of Christ alone! It is the old paths, but it NEVER gets old! To God be the glory!
