It was such a disappointment to hear a one Karungo Wa Thang’wa - TopicsExpress

It was such a disappointment to hear a one Karungo Wa Thang’wa defending the moribus trips been done by the MCAs to several foreign countries in disguise of learning about devolution. At this time and age, it’s derogatory for elected leaders to make such trips using the taxpayer’s money. For what purpose and use is a trip to Israel to purportedly see where Jesus was born or worse still to see his foot-prints using our money? What is the economic relevance of such trips to the taxpayers? While thousands of kids are dropping out of school for lack of fees, some people are busy blowing our taxes. Kiambu County is now home to controversy; ghost workers, foreign trips, Skewed distribution of resources, Corruption, Patronage and Nepotism are the order of the day. The world has become a global village; I can certainly visit all the places these rapacious MCAs visited from the comfort of my laptop or IPad in a day. These visits are a mockery to the technological advancements that this country has achieved since 2002 when the web market opened up. I hear they visited a fertilizer factory in Israel, can someone google ‘A visit to Fertilizer Plant in Israel’ on Youtube and tell me what you will find there? You tube will take you through the plant and give you even a graphical account of the factory and its economic importance to Israel. You do not have to travel to Israel, Egypt, Canada or Netherlands to learn about dairy farming, waste management, or devolution. For a youthful ‘leader’ like Karungo to support wastage of millions of shillings on unfounded trips is in itself worrying. Today, one can pursue a Degree, Masters or a PHD from the comfort of his room. What is soo difficult: Learning how to rear dairy cattle using Hydroponics, Learning how to grow Tomatoes or Apples in a green house OR Doing a PHD research in any field???? The wastage of our resources is wanting and unless we speak out, we shall have managed to devolve some 60 rich MCAs as the expense of over 1,623,282 residents of Kiambu who cannot access proper healthcare, water, roads, or decent education. In foreign governments, educational tours are undertaken by the market players themselves. For example, if Chinese Premier is visiting Kenya, his delegation will certainly comprise of Chinese Investors, Bankers, etc…., Contrary to us, If our Governor travels to say Denmark, instead of his entourage comprising of the Dairy Farmers from say Githunguri, he shall be accompanied by his entire troupe of royal MCAs who has no clue on Dairy Farming or what is involved in the industry. It would make logic if the county government is airlifting farmers to Denmark, Jua Kali artisans to China, Mechanics to Japan, Oat farmers to Canada etc….. That would make an Economic logic. What Karungo is advancing is total inverted logic and shows how lowly our leaders think or else think about us. As I sit in my hotel here in Mexico, it disappoints me to read from United States of Kiambu group that the County Assembly has passed a Bill establishing County Communication & Broadcasting Stations. How tragic can that be in priority order? This clearly shows that the County Government lacks proper leadership and is just trigger happy on enacting poorly thought out Bills. Why would one want to establish a Radio or TV station in Kiambu County while as patients are sharing beds at Kiambu District Hospital? For what purpose? Have we exhausted Kameme FM, Inooro FM, Cooro FM, among other very popular and educational stations? What gap are those stations coming in to fill??? This tells you how irrational our MCAs like Karungo are on passing such a Bill. As a county we are thus faced with a common enemy, our leaders; they have utterly expressed and illustrated how selfish, unrealistic, irrational, corrupt, money minded they are. I know I might attract a lot of critics and enemies on my stand on these issues, but one thing remains; TRUTH. No matter how much one may try to suppress it, it always has a way of cropping up. By electing our MCAs, we propped and climbed the ladder, only that we are realizing the ladder was leaning towards the WRONG WALL!
