It was the discipline of philosophy and its tools and the newly developed field of theology that allowed the early Christian apologists to defeat the great heresies that popped up due to an inability to understand the person/deity of Christ and the intricacies of the Godhead and creation. While scripture has always been held as the authority, the interpretation of scripture in light of what seems to be paradoxes and what are clearly mysteries of Gods nature have required trained thought. This short clip of Dr. William Lane Craig is very inspirational. He asserts that there has been a revolution in the field of Philosophy in the past 50 years that has once again put the Christian thinkers on the top of the pile and will ultimately strengthen the field of apologetics even more. His opponent cannot seem to name a single influential Atheistic Philosopher that is still alive today. Although there certainly are a handful of critical and honest Atheistic thinkers, it gave me a little chuckle just the same. I hope what Dr Craig asserts is true. It was my study of Philosophy and Theology in general, and Dr Shaeffer and Dr Scott in particular, that broke decades of agnosticism. Modern thought could use a strong dose of classic thought. youtube/watch?v=14YM7MP6HzY
