It was this day fifteen years ago I married my lovely wife. Some have heard the story but to me it was quiet a wedding day as a I think back. Well because we both love the smokies we wanted to get married in Gatlinburg. So i rented this large cabin and ask many folks to join us on this special day. So about 20 showed up at the cabin to spend the night before the wedding on Saturday. Everything was good then I woke up and it was snowing so I told Michele we needed to go get our marriage license before it got to bad thinking a inch or two of snow. Well we stood outside the license place in line for approximately 3 hours while standing the accumulation of snow was around 3 deep. Starting to worry we got our license and headed back to Wears Valley where the cabin and friends were about 20 miles from Gatlinburg. By the time we got back close to the cabin the snow was coming down heavy and we were staying across a mountain, well we could not drive back to the cabin we got within a 1/2 a mile and had to walk the rest of the way thinking we will not be able to get everyone back across the mountain because of the elderly and be in Gatlinburg by two that afternoon. So decided it would be best to see if we could get a preacher to come to our cabin. So after probably 8 phone calls with several laughing, hanging up on us finally one said I know where your located if I would walk across the mountain he would do it so it was a mile to the bottom of this mountain where he was waiting and sure enough he was there he gets out of his car and said he would need me to help him across he had two knee replacements and he weighed over 300# and I told him with his condition he did not have to do this, he said young man this is your special day and if I would stay close we would be all right. Everyone had plenty of time to decorate the cabin and get dress for the occasion and they done an excellent job. Me and the preacher both busted our butts and got to be comical. So we finally had the ceremony and ate took care of the preacher everyone was happy then Michele and I walked the preacher to his car I told her she did not have to and her remark was from now on where you go I go. So we got him on his way then went back to cabin 2 miles round trip. So we get to the cabin not knowing how long we were going to be snowed in I knew the was not enough food and drinks for 20 people so I decided to walk to the store which I thought was 2 miles and so Michele said Im going with you so off we go that 2miles turned into around 6 miles one way. By this time there was 10 of snow on the ground and the snow was coming down the size of baseballs but we carried on till we made it to the stow both about to freeze so we had a couple cups of coffee to warm up then loaded the backpacks with all we could get in there. The owner of the store ask why we were out and we told him our story and where we were staying it had done got dark by this time so he ask if we would like a ride at least to the bottom of the mountain so he closed his store and we got in the Toyota 4x4 and headed back. Tried to pay him and he said no thanks. So I believe the good Lord was looking out for us the whole day putting wonderful people in place to make that day such a memorable day. By the way we were snowed in for 2days with everyone at the cabin. Thats my story what a day it was not your everyday wedding but one to remember
