It was truly fantastic to see young peoples voices being heard in Scotlands #indyref yesterday - for the first time ever, 16 and 17 year olds were able to participate and vote at the national level in the UK, heralding an historic moment for British democracy. Its important that the UK carries this on into next years general election, and that the rest of the Europe follows in backing Votes at 16 (UK). For a fairer, more inclusive democracy. For engaged, politically active young people. #ForYouthRights. 16 year old Brandyn on yesterdays vote: I felt it was a big responsibility but I’ve taken it seriously. I’ve listened to the debates and went to the debate for young voters. Once I’d voted I felt happy. It’s good that younger people are allowed to vote. It’s our future we’re talking about here.”
