It wasnt an easy decision, but after a whopping 20 years on the air, 10+ hosts and DJs, and countless guest interviews from around the world, Droppin Dimez Radio – Canadas ONLY All Female Hip Hop Show is coming to an end, with our last show as a team airing tonight. Why? Its the end of the year and with so many things going on for each of us, its time to bring this chapter to a close, which will allow for something new, and exciting to grow in its place. The show was started by Jemeni in 1994, and has since been touched by DJ Stach, Nat Nyce, Mel Dube, Lindsay Bess, DJ MelBoogie, Zeeta, Malaika, Big G, Alicia, Anitah Sparkz and JJ Rock. Over the past two decades weve had the awesome opportunity to host and DJ at special events across the city, and do interviews with some of our music, entertainment and community heroes including Pete Rock and CL Smooth, GURU (RIP), Dwele, Goapele, Floetry, Michie Mee, Lady P, Lord Jamar, Yo-Yo, Sadat X, Jully Black, Lil Mo, Ava DuVernay, Saukrates, Jeru the Damaja, MC Serch, Kish, Masta Ace, Young Joc, Ebonnie Rowe, Tony Yayo, Freedom Writers, Common, Maestro, KRS-One, MC Rumble, Kardinal Offishall, Skillz, F-You Project, Point Blank, Rah Digga, Greg Nice, Dan-e-o, Apollo Brown, Cormega, Mindbender, Camp Lo, and so many more! Weve also had the opportunity to interview the next generation of artists and producers – sometimes being the first to introduce them to the masses on the airwaves – including Boi-1da, Jelly TooFly, A-Game, Raz Fresco, DJ Romeo, Famous, Keysha Freshh, JD Era, Rich Kidd, Young Cake, Reema Major, and more. We love our extended family of artists and listeners whove been riding with us since our time at CKLN 88.1FM and followed us to our current home at CHRY 105.5FM. Thanks to the awesome staff and both radio stations for their support, PLUS to the countless artists, promoters, and community leaders, whove come through the station to build with us and our listeners in person, and on the air. Really, we cant thank you enough! But what we can and will do, is celebrate and go out with a BANG! Tonights show will be very bittersweet, but is dedicated to everyone whos been riding with us each week since 1994. Although the Droppin Dimez Show is coming to end, something BIG and NEW is launching in January in the same time slot — stay tuned to CHRY for the details!
