It wasnt as pretty as it turned out to be, but Carolina did manage to win their third consecutive game with a 68-53 thumping over Virginia Tech. The win puts Carolina at 4-1, tied for third with Syracuse, and is a full game behind undefeated Virginia. Carolina shot 44% from the field and held the Hokies to 19 of 53 for 36%. Carolina easily won the battle of the boards 45-20, including 15 on the offensive side to just three for Virginia Tech. Justin Jackson led all scorers with 16 points tonight and had seven rebounds. Brice Johnson put in 12 points and 11 rebounds amd JP Tokoto added 10 points. Marcus Paige and Kennedy Meeks each had eight points. Paige left the game with 9:23 left in the second half with an apparent upper thigh or hip injury, but did return a couple of minutes later. Carolina now goes to 14-4 overall. They will hit the road to Winston-Salem on Wednesday to play Wake Forest at 7:00pm on ESPN2.
