It wasn’t always the best outcome when animals arrived at Seagoville Animal Shelter in Texas. In fact, only about 1% made it out alive while all the others were needlessly killed in the gas chamber. Thanks to Sgt. Karl Bailey, those days are long gone. Check out Sgt. Bailey’s first day on the job: “The first thing I did was shut down the gas chamber for good… I ordered that the killing come to an end.” bit.ly/z8wdSz In two minutes, Sgt. Bailey completely changed the fate for the shelter animals of Seagoville, Texas, and due to it, fewer animals lost their lives all year than used to be killed in one week. Even with no formal experience running animal control, Sgt. Bailey was dedicated and committed to each and every life that came their way and determined to find a better way. And, they have done just that and continue to do so. Kudos to Sgt. Bailey and the crew of Seagoville Animal Shelter! Keep on keeping on for the shelter animals of your community and thank you for proving what can be accomplished when shelter leadership is sincere and determined to do so. So when someone asks you how long it should take to achieve No Kill, tell them about Sgt. Bailey. And then tell them: 120 seconds.
