It wasn’t until SSG Nathan Fair served in Iraq and Afghanistan that he saw his guitar as an escape. He’d play whenever he had a chance, whether it be for himself or for his fellow soldiers. Once back in the United States, Fair understood that his guitar and his voice represented something different than an escape: they represented the brothers and sisters he fought with overseas—both those that returned, and those that did not.
