It would be a fine gesture from Modi if he apologizes to the nation on the Faux Pas and regrets for the inadvertant mistakes, as well as tell the nation that he meant no afront by saying MMS was born in Pakistan. This would go a long way in peoples minds and it would slowly fade away from their minds as well as pull out the fangs from the hawkish media. As of now the congress has started to riducle him and their statement now is If anyone who has a degree in History, please send in your application to Modis office, you are sure to be employed as he needs tutoring. Well see how a single Faux Pas can stir up things ! Mamta was very critical of Modi as Dr. Shyam Prasad Mookherjee belonged to West Bengal, and the congress has gone a bit further by even branding him as a ethnic fanatic. since he called Dr. Shyam Prasad Mookherjee as a proud Son of Gujarat when it is not so, Now according to the Congress any Prime Ministerial candidate has to rise above regions and ethnicity and view India as a whole, it would have been totally a different thing if he had said that Dr. Shyam Praasad Mookherjee was a Proud son of India. I know Modi mentioned it inadvertantly and by mistake but what on earth were his advisers doing ? There is one problem about Modi, he does not go by speech writers and all his adress is extempore, so there is no way the speech writers could know what he is going to speak in order to correct any errors.. A small mistake and the Press and the Bengali pouplace would make a mountain out of it. As I said prudence ( not discretion ) is a better part of valour and Modi should correct and apologize for the incorrect information he gave on Dr. Shyam Prasad Mookherjee and MMS. The congress also has shot back on the issue of MMS, and asked him and Where do you think your leader L.K. Advani came to India from ? Modi should be more careful and even consult a few advisers on what he is going to talk , that way it would avoid any of these problems arising in the future.
