It would seem that what i said yesterday is being misinterpreted. - TopicsExpress

It would seem that what i said yesterday is being misinterpreted. Please hear me out; GO TO FIREDRUMS. It is an amazing, life changing, eye opening, instigator of motivation and desire to excel above anything you have ever thought you can be. It completely turned my life around and changed me from an observer into a creator. FireDrums has every right to ask me to purchase a ticket. This is a common practice within flow arts events; some of them even require that absolutely everyone buy a ticket, management included. The purpose of all these events is to grow their communities, not to prey on or exploit their attendees. If that was the goal, then why arent there some giant faceless companies running these events? Why arent they hiring Tiesto to bring in masses of raver kids to add to their target market? These events are all thrown by people who care about flow arts, for people who care about flow arts. Now lets face it, I am not famous, having my name on the bill would not generate nearly the amount of income necessary to run FireDrums. I am not going to sell a lot of tickets by teaching for my fifth year in a row. Youre probably not buying a ticket just to see me there, youre buying a ticket to learn from the people that you see online and in person doing the best at flow arts they can possibly do. Youre buying the amazing and one of a kind experience of being at FireDrums. I would be absolutely foolish to assume that there are less deserving people who were accepted to instruct and were offered tickets/gas money. I get giddy myself from seeing the instructor lineup posted. There is a finite amount of funding that any event can spread around, and it only makes sense to spread that love to different people whenever possible, so that as many people as possible can share in this amazing experience. Do you think the good word of FireDrums would be known anywhere outside of Pismo Beach if there werent people selected from far away lands to come here to soak it all in? The more people that have the realization that they can live a life of fulfillment, the better. I had that realization once, sitting at the edge of the FireDrums circle, spinning glowsticks with Marvin Ong and Jon Everett, watching Noel Yee and Cyrille Humen spin fire and bust out stall chasers in front of everyone before the move even had a name. I realized we were all on the same path towards happiness through achieving communal self perpetuation and sustainment. We each approach this differently, but with a common goal: grow the community, grow the individuals, grow the love of flow arts. Go to FireDrums. Support your community, or it will be replaced by fushigi gatherings and spin ballz competitions. Only love to FireDrums and its organizers. I wouldnt have become a flow artist without them.
