It would take over 100 hours (4 days around the clock) to call out the 66,695 names listed on the Kresy-Siberia Virtual Wall of Names of Polands citizens fighting for freedom and survival in the eastern borderlands (‘Kresy’) and in forced exile during World War II. More names are added every day. The Names listings include notes on the fates that these heroic people experienced during the war: deportation to forced labour by Soviet Russia or Nazi Germany, oppression by Soviet Russian, Nazi German, or radical Nationalist Ukrainian forces throughout the war, or retreating from the advancing German and Soviet invaders in 1939 to continue the fight for Poland from foreign soil. The Wall of Names is a partial listing of all those who experienced these fates and it is growing every day as more names are submitted. It includes those who survived as well as those who perished, many in unknown places and in unmarked graves.
