Italian-A-Day One is never too young to dream up an invention and to receive a U.S. patent for it. Stefano Patamia, a seventh-grade student at Netcong Elementary School in New Jersey, noticed that height-challenged students and teachers, as well as those with special needs, were having trouble erasing the top portion of the dry erase board in his classroom and wanted to do something to help. First dreaming up his idea in third-grade, the now 12-year old, invented a motorized erasing mechanism that not only assists those trying to reach the top of the board, but also helps teachers keep their eyes on the students. Even more admirable, Patamia says he was not looking for any sort of notoriety, just that he was simply looking to help someone out.
