Italy loves The South Austin Moonlighters! If you are expecting a peaceful Texas Southern sound, this is not the right disc for you. But If you like your music loud, electric-based country rock, not to mention the blues, all seasoned with a touch of psychedelia, you may be faced with pleasure listening to the debut album of this new Texas band. A group based in Austin (and that has obviously already climbed on stage at the SxSW) formed by four musicians from varied experiences while each in other bands. This Band, Phil Bass, Phil Hurley, Josh Zee and Lonnie Trevino Jr., have proven to have excellent chemistry. 15 Tracks well built, powerful dynamics, yet never aggressive at the listener, are a mixture of current music, and all based on the Americana genre. This band interprets them with the right energy. You will hear this in Land Mines, Down To Hell, the title track Burn and Shine, the slow (without being monotonous) Old Engine, 29 Miles, the restoration of soul of Falling Out Of Love, the rollicking country number King Of Friday Night, and the beatlesque Once I Saw A UFO. Great job! This leaves this writer with the desire to listen to The South Austin Moonlighters live. - Michele Manzotti of Il Popolo del Blues Italy ilpopolodelblues/wp/2014/09/the-south-austin-moonlighters-burn-shine/
