This is a OOAK necklace. Ive left the ends unfinished so that you can decide the length you wish. It is made from a Raku Focal, Dyed Shell Beads and African Turquoise Beads. The Raku Triskelion Focal is 1 and 3/8th Inches Long and about 1 and 1/8th Inches Wide. Its Blue, Brown and Cream coloured. The backside is plain. The African Turquoise Beads are about an Inch Long, about a Quarter Inch Wide and are a Lozenge Shape. The Shell Beads are Spherical, dyed a Blue Green Colour, and measure 6 MM. Ive tried to match each bead to the ones on the other side and feel like I have done a fairly decent job of it. A triskelion is a design consisting of three interlocked spirals, or three bent human legs. The word comes from the Greek τρισκέλιον (triskelion) three-legged,τρι- (tri-), three times+ σκέλος (skelos), leg”. Although it appears in many places and periods, it is especially characteristic of Keltic art of the La Tène culture during Iron Age in Europe. The Keltic symbol of three joined spirial may have meant the same as the older Triskelion. The triple spiral motif is a New Stone Age symbol in Western Europe even though it is PRE-Keltic. And it can be found carved into a Lozenge shaped stone near the entrance of the astrological site of New Grange in Ireland. New Grange was built around 3200 BC, far predating the Kelts arrival in Ireland, but was incorporated into their culture. This Symbol appears in many other early cultures such as Bronze Age Greek vessels, as an emblem on their warriors’ shield portrayed on pottery, on coins of Anatolia between 400 and 325 BC and as far to the west as the first century BC site in Galicia, Spain called Santa Tegra. A Triskelion is also the symbol of Sicily, where it is called trinacria, as well as of the Isle of Man, Brittany, and the town of Füssen, Germany. The three branches, legs or spirals are thought to be Land, Sea and Sky, one of the three fold gods or goddesses like Mannann mac Lir or the Morrigan, or the Maiden, Mother and Crone of the Pagans. Some folks think that it represents the 9 months of a human pregnancy and thus fertility. The Ancient Kelts of Gaul only recognized 3 seasons: Spring, Summer and Winter. Raku pottery is created with a specific firing process that uses smoke and fire to create patterns in the item. It requires a special propane heated kiln that can reach temperatures of 1800 degrees F. The item has to stay in there for 30 minutes, then it’s taken out and put into a metal can that has combustible materials in it such as hair, feathers or even sugar. The heat from the ceramic piece causes the material to catch on fire. Regular pottery would crack into pieces but Raku is a special type that is able to take these extremes. Inside the can, the fire draws out all the oxygen out of the piece and it’s glaze which is what gives Raku its unique look. After 15 minutes, the piece is taken out and dunked into water to freeze the patterns in the ceramic. African Turquoise isn’t a Turquoise at all, but a lovely type of Jasper found solely in Africa that can be dyed to resemble the actual stone. It is known as “The Stone of Evolution“, bringing encouragement for growth, development, and positive change within your life. It can open your mind to new ideas and new possibilities. This is a stone that awakens the soul to its intended purpose, encouraging the being to make positive impression while gaining and giving positive wisdom. African Turquoise incorporates positive change where it is needed, it encourages the being to use the gift of knowledge already left by others over time to help this change become a part of the past, the present and of the future - of the All. It is a stone that can be charged or imprinted with wisdom and code. It will hold this for the intended soul for as long as is needed. It is a stone of sworn secrecy and sworn protection, and for this reason, can be used as an amulet, talisman or marker. Shells have the natural ability to disperse negative energy as their origin is the Ocean which contains Sea Salt. They also have a protective base that negativity has a hard time penetrating. Seashells have soft healing energy which helps to cleanse, balance and harmonize your chakras and your aura.
