Items scheduled for the January 5, 2015, agenda meeting: ALLIANCE INSURANCE: 2015 Insurance Rates – Alliance Insurance has notified Barton County that its insurance coverage will be reduced in 2015. While there were variances in property, liability and auto, the biggest change was in the reduction in the cost of work comp insurance. HEALTH DEPARTMENT: Gold Level “Breastfeeding Employees Support Award” from the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition – Last summer, the Health Department initiated a campaign to locate dedicated lactation rooms in local businesses. One outcome is the Barton County Courthouse has received the Gold Level “Breastfeeding Employees Support Award” from the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition and its Business Case for Breastfeeding program. REVISION OF THE 2015 AUTHORIZED POSITIONS LISTING: Central Kansas Community Corrections – On August 25, 2014, the Commission adopted the 2015 Authorized Positions listing. CKCC was slated for 7 full time and 5 part time positions. At this time, Amy Boxberger, CKCC Director, will request that the positions be revised to 8 full time and 5 part time. DESIGNATION OF OFFICIAL DEPOSITORIES FOR COUNTY FUNDS – A designation of Barton County financial institutions as official depositories comes before the Commission. Such institutions must meet the 100% pledged securities requirement for all County funds. KANSAS ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES: 2015 Membership – The Kansas Association of Counties (KAC) has submitted a renewal notice for the 2015 membership. Based on a calculation that includes a base fee, population and valuation, the 2015 dues are $5,969.02. KANSAS LEGISLATIVE POLICY GROUP: 2015 Membership – The Kansas Legislative Policy Group (KLPG) is a bi-partisan coalition of western Kansas counties with the common interest in the preservation of the counties tax base and retention of local control. The Commission will consider renewal of the $4,652.90 membership. COUNTY SERVICES: Informational Update – Mr. Boeckman will provide the informational report of work completed during the last period.
